Course Objectives
By the end of this 90-hour course, participants will be able to:
1. Demonstrate advanced understanding and application of effective instructional design,
pedagogy, and classroom management strategies for diverse learners.
2. Integrate national/state academic standards and 21st-century competencies into lesson
planning, curriculum mapping, and assessment design.
3. Employ a variety of formative and summative assessment tools, analyze student data, and
apply findings to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
4. Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom culture that promotes student
engagement, social-emotional well-being, and equity.
5. Engage in reflective practice, continuous professional learning, and collaborative
leadership within their school community.
6. Demonstrate ethical and professional conduct aligned with professional teaching
standards and codes of practice.
Course Structure & Detailed Outline
Total Duration: 90 hours
Recommended delivery: over 15 weeks (6 hours per week) or as intensive modules across a
semester.
Module 1: Foundations of Professional Teaching Practice (10 hours)
• Roles and responsibilities of a certified professional teacher
• Professional ethics, codes of conduct, and legal responsibilities
• Professional standards frameworks and career pathways
• Reflective practice and growth mindset for teachers
Module 2: Curriculum Design and Standards Alignment (15 hours)
• Understanding curriculum frameworks and national/state standards
• Backward design and curriculum mapping
• Developing clear learning objectives and outcomes
• Differentiated curriculum design for diverse learners
• Integrating cross-curricular and global competencies
Module 3: Instructional Planning & Pedagogical Strategies (15 hours)
• Instructional models and research-based teaching strategies
• Planning engaging and rigorous lessons
• Active learning, inquiry-based learning, and project-based learning
• Culturally responsive and inclusive pedagogy
• Technology-enhanced teaching strategies
Module 4: Classroom Environment & Management (10 hours)
• Building a positive classroom climate
• Establishing routines, rules, and expectations

• Supporting social-emotional learning (SEL)

Module 5: Assessment Literacy & Data-Informed Practice (15 hours)
• Principles and purposes of assessment
• Designing valid and reliable assessments

• Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting student data
• Using data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes
Module 6: Professional Collaboration & Teacher Leadership (10 hours)
• Building collaborative professional learning communities (PLCs)

• Advocacy and family/community partnerships
Module 7: Continuous Growth & Capstone Project (15 hours)
• Action research in the classroom

• Presentation and peer feedback
Assessment & Certification Requirements
• Participation in all modules (minimum 85% attendance)
• Submission of a professional teaching portfolio including lesson plans, reflections, and student work samples
• Completion and presentation of a classroom-based action research project
• Passing performance evaluation based on teaching standards rubric
